A dice total is different from a random number
Each virtual die is rolled independently, then the results are added. This matters in tabletop games and probability exercises: the total of two dice does not have the same distribution as one uniformly selected integer. Check the requested die type and quantity before rolling.
Example: roll two d6 and keep both faces
Load two six-sided dice. The result shows each face and their sum. A total of 7 can arise from six ordered pairs: 1+6, 2+5, 3+4, 4+3, 5+2, and 6+1. A total of 2 can arise only from 1+1. Neither a d12 nor a uniform random number from 2 to 12 reproduces this distribution.
Replaces current inputs and clears results and history. Names are fictional.
What to check: There should be two individual values, each between 1 and 6, and the large total must equal their sum. The table below enumerates all 36 possible ordered face pairs; it does not predict your next roll.

Read dice notation correctly
2d6 means two dice with six sides each. Their total lies between 2 and 12. A single d12 can also produce 1, and every one of its twelve faces has the same chance. The tool currently rolls one selected die type at a time; it does not parse mixed expressions such as 2d6+1d4+3.
Use individual values when the game requires them
Some rules compare dice separately instead of using their sum. Read the displayed faces before applying your game’s rule. Copy result includes the quantity, die type, individual results, and total, so the roll is understandable outside the page.
What d100 means here
Entering 100 sides chooses an integer from 1 to 100 inclusive. It does not display two separate percentile dice. A result of 100 is shown as 100, not 00.
Limits to keep in mind
Roll 1–20 dice of the same type. Enter any whole side count from 2, with up to 1,000 decimal digits. There are no modifiers, exploding dice, advantage rules, or externally verifiable records.
