    PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

Choose once, or give everyone a turn

A decision wheel is useful when the options are already acceptable and the remaining problem is choosing one. Agree on the list before spinning: adding or removing an option after seeing a result changes the process. For decisions with real consequences, compare the options first instead of treating a random result as advice.

Example: six classroom speakers, no repeat picks

Load the fictional class list below. Remove winner is enabled. The first draw gives each of the six entries a 1 in 6 chance. After a winner is removed, each of the five remaining entries has a 1 in 5 chance on the next draw. Continue until everyone has had a turn. The complete result history stays in this tab until you clear it, reload, or leave.

Replaces current inputs and clears results and history. Names are fictional.

What to check: After a spin, check that the selected name has disappeared from the input list. Repeated identical names are still separate lines; removing one winner removes only that line.

    What repeated options mean

The wheel gives equal chances to lines, not to distinct words. Pizza, Pizza, Sushi creates three slices: Pizza has a 2 in 3 chance and Sushi has a 1 in 3 chance. Repetition can express an agreed preference, but an accidental duplicate also changes the odds. Review the list before drawing.

Why the wheel can stop on the same option again

Without winner removal, each draw starts from the current list and repeats are allowed. The animation reveals a choice that has already been made by the random engine. A longer name, a slower device, and Skip animations do not increase or reduce an entry’s chance.

When another tool is a better fit

Use List Shuffler if you need everyone’s order at once. Use Team Generator for simultaneous groups or a schedule of changing partners. Those tasks do not require repeated manual spins.

    Limits to keep in mind

Up to 200 lines, with at most 120 Unicode code points per line. Blank lines are ignored. Long labels may be shortened on the wheel, while the result displays the full entry. Draws have no public audit log or identity verification.

    A few good questions

Does a longer name change the odds?

No. Every line has the same chance. Repeating an option on several lines gives it more chances.

What happens with a long list?

You can add up to 200 entries. Labels are shortened or hidden on narrow slices; the full selected entry appears in the result.

    Another way to decide
